Dairy-Free Hot Cocoa Mix In a Jar | Uses coconut sugar and dark cocoa. Vegan friendly!
I can’t think of a more perfect drink to enjoy with my family around the holidays than hot cocoa! Whether you’re watching classic Christmas movies or sitting around the fire, hot cocoa is such a warm and delicious treat that the whole family can enjoy! This mix makes a comforting, rich, and chocolatey mug of cocoa—everything a good cup ought to be!

Here’s an easy mix that you can create to make a cup of delicious cocoa anytime and in just a matter of minutes! I use a special blend of coconut sugar, dark cocoa powder, and mini chocolate chips to make this mix. The coconut sugar adds such a delicious flavor and the dark cocoa along with the melted chocolate gives it the richness that I love. Ah, it’s just so yummy!

I like to use Mini Chocolate Chips, because they melt quickly, but you can use regular chocolate chips or chopped up chocolate bar and just use your food processor to blend the mix a little more finely.

After you blend the mix together, stir a few tablespoons into a hot cup of milk and you have one delicious cup of cocoa! The only thing that makes it better is to add a few homemade marshmallows to your mug!

Healthier Honey Vanilla Marshmallows | Gluten and Refined Sugar Free!
These Honey Vanilla Marshmallows are free of refined sugars and are the perfect complement to a cup of cocoa. Package some of these up in a box or cellophane bag to give alongside of the cocoa mix to make it a complete gift!

Description

Make a cup of cocoa anytime with this easy cocoa mix using coconut sugar and dark cocoa! Also makes a great gift to give away!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2/3–1 cup Coconut Sugar or organic cane sugar, to taste
  • 1/2 cup Semi-Sweet Mini Chocolate Chips milk/white chocolate or a combo of chocolate can be used. (Look for dairy-free chocolate, if necessary)
  • 1/2 cup Cocoa Powder
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. You can adjust the amount of sweetener to suit your taste. Use less for a deeper, dark chocolate flavor and the latter amount for a standard amount of sweetness. (If you add less sweetener in the beginning, you can always mix in more sugar later if it’s not sweet enough.) Combine all ingredients in a small bowl and then transfer to a 16 oz. jar. To make a serving, add 2–3 tablespoons of mix (can add more or less, to taste) to one mug of hot milk. Mix well until thoroughly blended (chocolate tends to clump at the bottom of the cup) and serve. This mix should be enough for about 10 cups/servings

Am I mistaken, I see that the mix itself is dairy free, but then if you mix it in milk doesn’t that negate the dairy free?

Not if you mix it in dairy-free milk. I use almond milk.
